Diann H. Smith, MS, RHIA, CHP, FAHIMA
Diann H. Smith, MS, RHIA, CHP, FAHIMA, is vice president of Health Information Management Services and Clinical Documentation Integrity at Texas Health Resources in Arlington, Texas, a 29-facility integrated health care system. Smith is a published author and experienced speaker on a variety of healthcare-related topics.
Smith is serving a third term as AHIMA Foundation Board Chair and served as the 2018 president/chair of the board for the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). Smith has served as chair on the AHIMA Professional Ethics Committee; director on the AHIMA board; president of the Texas Health Information Management Association (TXHIMA) and commissioner on the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM).
Smith earned her Master of Science in human relations and business from Amberton University and Bachelor of Science in health information management from Texas Woman’s University. She is a fellow in the American Health Information Management Association.
Smith has received several notable local and national awards including TXHIMA Distinguished Member Award; Distinguished Alumni Award from Tarrant County College; outstanding leadership awards from the YWCA of Fort Worth & Tarrant County, Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth’s President’s Award, Leadership of Excellence Award, AHIMA Triumph Leadership Award, Mary Kay Inspiring Women Award, Mentor of the Year Award presented by Women of Visionary Influence (WOVI) and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Xi Theta Omega Chapter Woman of the Year Community Award.
